AVOID DEHYDRATION DURING THE P2 OF THE HCG DIET

Dehydration is more than the feeling of just being thirsty. This is when your body is losing water without sweating. Dehydration affects most of the activities of your body even your internal organs. It affects the pumping of blood, blood pressure, kidney, function, metabolism, etc. Your body lacks enough fluid to carry its normal functions. It leads to weakness and other serious health problems.

Dehydration during the HCG diet

Dehydration boils down to how your body is unable to burn calories. It affects fat burning and can cause rapid weight gain. This is due to a metabolic rate being slower than it should be. Dehydration will make you eat more unhealthy foods or drink processed drinks. This eventually leads to weight gain or weight loss plateau. Dehydration makes your body impossible to break down fats.

Phase 2 only requires you to eat 500 calories per day. This means that you have to be watchful with the foods and drinks that you are going to eat. VLCD does not mean that you have to skip meals or avoid drinking water. You need adequate hydration on the HCG diet because your body needs 90% of water for better function. Watch out for the signs of dehydration that may affect your HCG diet.

Signs of dehydration

  • Severe thirst- Your body can lose water even if you are not doing heavy activities. Once you feel thirsty you have to drink water so to avoid dehydration. Do not prolong your thirst because it can also trigger cravings.
  • Failing to urinate- This is the second sign of dehydration. Failing to urinate means your body badly needs water. If you fail to urinate you need immediate attention to avoid health problems. If you experience this during the HCG diet you have to take a break first and consult your doctor.
  • Affects skin health- In addition to changes in the color of your urine you can also experience changes of skin color. Rehydrate every day especially when you are losing weight rapidly. Hydration can also help flush out toxins from the burned fats out of your body. This also carries nutrients and helps you maintain a healthy body.
  • Racing heart or rapid heartbeat- This is because your heart cannot pump blood well because of the lack of hydration. Water is vital for your organs such as kidneys, lungs, liver, and heart to function normally. Racing or rapid heartbeat is a severe sign of dehydration. Feeling dizzy or any cognitive difficulties also means you are severely dehydrated.
